Reporter Tim Callery has departed the local market and is moving up north after more than four years of serving the TV news viewers of Western Massachusetts. Callery, a native of Lowell, will start reporting for WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Monday. “I’ve enjoyed every second of being here. I’ll miss the folks I’ve met in the field, the government employees I worked with, and the nice people at Western Mass News, especially all the people who work so hard behind the scenes to produce each broadcast, Callery said. I now consider this to be my second home.

Callery relocated from Lowell to Westfield State University, where he first saw the Pioneer Valley. From there, he was first employed as a photographer at CBS 3 Springfield, but he swiftly changed from a man who worked behind the camera to a reporter. Callery has covered a wide range of topics, including sports, tragedies, and uplifting feature stories. Cherise Leclerc, a former Western Mass News anchor, was at the Monarch Place TV studio on February 18, 2014, when she overheard a report about a standoff in a nearby hospital’s parking lot. She seized the SUV’s keys from CBS 3 and drove directly there with Callery.
